A Story Told In Maps - The 21 Steps

For We Tell Stories, Penguin Books commissioned six stories based on classic texts and told in uniquely digital forms.

In The 21 Steps, Charles Cumming (with the help of the creative team at six to start) has written a short action-packed tale inspired by the classic The 39 Steps and told with the help of the Google Maps engine.

While the story is pure plot, the fun of watching it unfold over a changing and moving series of maps is an exhilarating experience, especially for a person equally interested in fiction and cartography. Perhaps this might even represent the dawn of a new subgenre - cartographic fiction?
